Frank – Adopted!

In November 2023, we were notified of a Kijiji add that had an older Canadian, 'free to a good home.' Although free doesn't always equal at risk, we reached out to the owner. 

Frank was reported to be a beautiful, healthy, easy going registered Canadian gelding, about 26 years old. He had been used as a driving and pack horse for many years but could no longer manage the long excursions, especially as he needed mash. Although the owner had considered euthanasia, he felt strongly that Frank still had a few good years left. 

Almost immediately, we had several folks willing to foster Frank until we could find a permanent home. One person in particular was really keen to take Frank but with winter approaching and the potential for a long haul, it wasn't a reasonable move at the time. 

The next thing we knew Cheryl - a longstanding follower and supporter - had reached out to a close contact/friend who was willing to foster Frank over winter. Then within just a few hours, Frank was moved to foster care with a permanent and forever home waiting for him. It truly takes a village. Huge thanks to everyone that supported our efforts to find Frank a forever home!
