Janine – Adopted!

Janine is a 16 year old registered Canadian broodmare who came into our care Fall 2015. We knew she was in foal but breeding date wasn't completely clear. At this point it is important to note that Janine was not a normal "rescue" nor was she really believed to be "at risk." We learned about Janine via a post to a Canadian Horse group on Facebook. She, along with a herd mate, were for sale at a price that seemed too good to be true. The Facebook post was marked "urgent" and the discussion focused more on the other mare, a 19 year old who was reportedly in rough shape; as it turns out, that mare was humanely euthanized and had cancer. In any case, there was still some worry about Janine within the Facebook group so with the help of an amazing foster mum - Lorena Mann - we decided to purchase Janine, just in case. We paid more than we normally would for a rescue but she was worth every penny. Lorena's family is completely enamoured and Janine quickly took to being loved.
